Spotlight On... Red Clover
When a friend calls and says come forage my red clover field, you say YES! Despite the name, red clover is actually purplish red and is found in every U.S. state in woodland meadows, yards and along roadsides. This nourishing plant is a gentle but powerful herbal medicine, often used to support lymphatic function, endocrine function, as a blood cleanser, lung tonic, and for immune support and skin health. I enjoy including her in spring tea blends with mint and other spring florals.
Evoking visions of childhood flower crowns, red clover has a playful nature and is considered a plant of good luck and good fortune (hello, four leaf clover). Use best foraging practices, but red clover is considered abundant and there is little chance of over harvesting.
{always make sure to accurately ID any plant before consuming}
